During our autumn 2022 spa trip, we decided to visit three different thermal spas in Southern Germany. The first stop on our journey was Badeparadies Schwarzwald, beautifully located near the Titisee lake in the Black Forest.

When we arrived in the morning, the parking lot was already quite full, and we assumed it might get crowded inside. However, once we entered, we realized that visitors were well spread out across the spa’s three main areas.

From the outside, the building already looks impressive — spacious, modern, and full of glass. Inside, it reveals a true tropical retreat: real palm trees, cozy lounge areas, a spa and sauna world, and even a large water park with exciting slides.

Badeparadies Schwarzwald is divided into three main areas:

• Palmenoase — a relaxation zone for guests aged 16 and above, featuring mineral pools, a large indoor lagoon surrounded by real palm trees, and even a swim-up bar.
• Galaxy Schwarzwald — the family-friendly water park, offering 23 slides and a wave pool.
• Palais Vital — an exclusive spa and sauna area for guests aged 16+, where clothing and swimwear are not allowed.

The Palmenoase features both indoor and outdoor areas with mineral pools and a swim-up bar, surrounded by real palm trees that create a tropical atmosphere.
We spent quite some time in the four mineral pools, each with different compositions — Lithium & Calcium, 4% salt concentration, and even 18% salt concentration.

My personal highlight was the variety of facial masks (liquid, cream, and salt-based) that were handed out regularly throughout the day.

Before moving on to the next area, we took a break at the restaurant located near the Blue Lagoon — the large indoor pool with the swim-up bar.

New addition: there’s now a sauna located in the outdoor section of the Palmenoase where swimwear is allowed. It’s a gentle 65°C and perfect for those who want to experience a sauna without entering the nude area.

The Galaxy Schwarzwald is the fun and action area of Badeparadies Schwarzwald — a water park with 23 slides and a large wave pool. There are also several food stalls scattered throughout this section.

The slides range from family-friendly to full-action experiences. The 180-meter tube slide was a nice, relaxing favorite, while the wild water river added a fun twist. We tried most of the slides (except the ones for little kids) and were quite satisfied with the experience.

Since our main focus was the spa and sauna world, we didn’t spend too much time here. We also skipped the wave pool — after all, nothing beats the real ocean and real waves, right?

The Palais Vital is the spa and sauna area — and it’s completely clothing-free. It was our first time experiencing this kind of environment, and while it felt a bit strange at first, we quickly got used to it. Everyone there is simply relaxed and respectful, which makes it surprisingly easy to feel comfortable.

The large pool with the swim-up bar was pure bliss. By swimming through a small water passage, you can reach the outdoor pool — and in November, the chilly air outside made for the perfect cooldown between sauna sessions.

We explored most of the 12 themed saunas and joined several infusion ceremonies (Aufgüsse).

The Palais Vital also features two vital pools enriched with Lithium, Calcium, and salt, which are perfect for a break between saunas. The Kristall-Nebel-Dampfbad (crystal mist steam bath) was another great spot to simply breathe deeply and unwind.

All in all, we can definitely recommend Badeparadies Schwarzwald. If you’re looking for excellent sauna experiences, relaxing mineral and vital pools, or professional massages, this is a must-visit.

The only downsides, from our perspective, are the distance from our home in Berlin — and the age restriction of 16+ in the Palais Vital. In our opinion, it should be at least 18+, or even 20–25+, to ensure a fully relaxed adult atmosphere. During our visit, a few teenagers behaved inappropriately and were clearly drunk.

Still, it was a wonderful experience overall — and we’ll definitely visit again!
